French energy company TotalEnergies [TTE:FP] has announced a significant partnership with Corio Generation and Rise Light & Power for the development of the Attentive Energy offshore wind project off the coast of New York and New Jersey, as reported by Reuters on October 23. The Attentive Energy project aims to generate over 3 gigawatts of offshore wind power, situated 54 miles from New York State and 42 miles from the New Jersey coastline. Upon completion, it is expected to provide clean electricity to more than a million homes in the two states. Rise Light & Power will play a crucial role in managing the project’s interconnection at its Ravenswood Generating Station, along with initiating the retirement of its gas generators.
TotalEnergies’ transformation of the iconic site into a green energy hub represents a significant step in New York City’s energy landscape. Corio Generation’s extensive experience in offshore wind development across the globe further bolsters this partnership. Vincent Stoquart, Senior Vice President Renewables at TotalEnergies, expressed excitement over the collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in New York and New Jersey, aligning with the U.S. government’s goal of developing 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030. This venture represents a promising step towards a sustainable energy future for the region.
